View Full Version : Got a Wolf springs kit, got some questions
Cry Havoc!

I just got a Wolf springs kit for my 1911 and in reading the instructions it says to start with the strongest spring first and work my way down in spring strength. Why is that? Is it really the right or best way to do that? Or does it matter?
Thanks,

Halito, Cry. Work down in strength till you get to the spring that ensures an RTB (return to battery) while not being too strong for reliable feeding, ejecting, & etc. Others are probably going to elaborate more on this. But, relax, patience neighbor, it takes time for people to answer questions sometimes. Oh, welcome to the forum, enjoy the spring kit, and enjoy the company of the fine friends on this forum. Love the 1911, Brazil (oh the Copa!!) and the forum.

Havoc, starting heavy is prescribed as that will protect your gun from frame battering. If you're shooting factory loads I would start at 16#, work down to down to 14#. Whether or not you like shock buffers they are good insurance against damage, and can give you an indication of how hard the slide is hitting the frame by the marks left on it.
