this may be a stupid question for some, but i am just curious. i am still very new to this and recently bought a SA 1911

anyways

what if i were to buy ALL wilson combat parts, keeping most in the same lineup such as the "hardcore" line if possible. would everything go together with minimal work??

my assumption is initially that most would be "drop-in" since it is from the same company, i would think they keep parts uniform with each other

but if im wrong, dont shoot me. just amuse my newb-ness

Your assumption might be more realistic if you were dropping Wilson Combat parts into a Wilson Combat receiver.

You're asking about dropping Wilson Combat parts into a Springfield Armory receiver.

Not gonna happen.

ahh, i actually meant that. i was referring to getting 100% wilson parts. the comment about me gettin the SA1911 was just FYI and random

this would be a whole new "build/project" if i were to go this route. i have NO machining experience whatsoever. so i was curious if it was possible for a newb to buy all the parts and just put it together himself, though i do realize the cost of all parts separately would equal or even exceed a new one already built

I don't think so. The 1911 in general requires some hand fitting to go together. Wilson Combat parts, with the exception of the "drop in" parts are all over-sized to allow for final fitting by the gunsmith. Even the drop in parts require some fitting.

Or, you could get one together from Fusion...take it apart and build it up from there :) Everyone's right, the odds are slim that you can "build" a 1911 "off-the-shelf" that will be working and safe..

wilson bullet proof parts ARE oversized and will require fitting
