i'm very excited to be purchasing my first 1911, and found this web site.. so far its been a great help.
i went to my local carters country with the intent to buy a Baby Eagle .45. but found a Commander for (what i think) a good price.
it was a bit out of my price range, so i put it in layaway, and will get it out sunday (shame i work friday and saturday or it'd be sooner).

i do have one question though.. i have the serial number on my layaway receipt and it begins with FC, i've searched the forums here and found out what CWL stands for.. whats FC stand for?

cheers

Not sure what it stands for. I have a SS Commander I bought used made in 1991 (According to Colt) and its S/N is FC34XXX. My current carry is a new blued Commander I bought in the last year and its S/N starts with CJ.

ah, okay good to know.. i cant wait to get it. i sold my Springfield XD 9 4inch to fund the Baby Eagle. so i'm carrying the wifes M9 around with me.. she's not too happy with that hehe.

mine is stainless, and will likely be my carry piece full time when i get my CHL later on this year.

Welcome to the forum, I'm sure you'll be happy with your Commander. Post pics when you get it home and post a range report to let us know how she behaves in public.

I love commanders! I'm sure it'll treat you right, if you encounter any troubles post them on the gunsmithing forum and someone who knows will help you out! Good Luck!:D

The Commanders are a great Colt and a pistol that will serve you well for years. Also is a great size for everyday carry.
