Another Colt added to my collection.
Per serial number: I have a 1974 Series 70 Gold Cup National Match.
So my question is...
How come my model has the big billboard letters & the other Series 70 GCNM models don't.
This is my second Gold Cup & I am starting to love them more & more...Pictures aren't that good but here ya go..

Somewhere between 70N50000 and 70N60000 Colt changed the size of the lettering on the slide.

Do you plan to leave the rubber grips on? I think the GCNM look best with the original walnut grips.

Daveohno,

Trading a Colt for a Colt? Man, that's a rough one.
But that 70's GC sure is spiffy chevyext02!
And yep... "back it should go, to original grips it should" says Yoda.

It's not a serious enough addiction to seek counseling until you start using your toes to count them. ;) You need a pre 70 series, they're pretty nice.

I saw a pre 70 series & those a bit high.........
I'm gonna have to start riding the bus to save gas & save up for one of those....thanks

The first ones were in 1957 and the first few years had an Accro rear sight instead of the Elliason. Nicely made and well fit guns.

Is there a 12 step program for 1911's?

Sign me up for morning, afternoon & evenings......
I can't do it on weekends.....That's usually my shopping day for Colt's. :butthead: :butthead:

Yes, it's twelve steps of 1911 addiction. It's really bad when you start with Gold Cups. Developing a taste for Colt's can easily mutate over to Les Baer-itis which is equally addictive.

Les Baer.......... :scared:
Why does that name sound............so........WARNING.....your on your own beyond this point b/c if you keep buying 1911's & send payments late & not to mention late fees & waiting for next month to make payments & not listening when she was telling not buy anymore.............
had to get that off my back...............no....I'll stick with Colt for now..

You can get in plenty of trouble with Colt's. There's so many different ones, variations and all. Colt's are fun to accumulate. ( :) Y :) )

Being broke will keep Coltitis and the dreaded Expensive Baeritis at bay. I've successfully resisted buying any firearm for at least 6 months now.......

Take my advice........don't let the 1911 habit transmute into a Colt habit. You'll go to either a funny farm or the poor house if you get into single action Army's.
