I just wanted to get a few different opinions on the "Best" drop in trigger for a Colt Gold Cup Series 80 National match. I would like to replace mine.

Ahmmm, there is no such a thing as a drop-in part for the 1911.

With that said, while most of the times a trigger will drop in and work as it should, there are cases where either the trigger itself or other parts may require some work.

After this clarification, I like solid black long (or medium-lenght) triggers. Colt has them, and Brownells is the place to order them from. Somehow though, I think you have something more fancy in your sights. Second in my preferences is the STI trigger.

Notice that most Gold Cups use a wider than standard 1911 trigger pad - and the frame is machined for a wide pad - in my experience King's has the best selection of triggers with a wide pad.

Notice also that in terms of prepped trigger sets - trigger, disconnector, sear - that many Gold Cups also have the extra spring load from Gold Cup unique parts - in some part to allow lighter pulls for a given weight - mass - of the trigger part. There again wide trigger pads will weigh more all else equal and that may be a consideration.
