A box just came in todays mail from UBG holsters http://www.ubgholsters.com/IWB.html And it contained my brand new Striker1 IWB holster. I'm carrying my Glock 27 in an ankle hoster today (I know, sacrilege), so I'll have to let the "gun in" review wait until later, but thought I'd give my first impressions on it now.
First of all, Nate (Mr. UBG holsters) is not a talker, at least not in my experience. If you the type that likes constant updates and wordy emails, you'll be disappointed. I had two contacts from him in this process. The first was to ensure that he received my order - his response in all it's wordiness "Yes I did." The second contact was for payment and his only wording was "Pay me with paypal." :D A man of few words. This didn't bother me, as he's in the holster making business, not the customer hand holding business. I'd just as soon he spend his time doing what he's good at as opposed to writing emails all day.
My very first impression was "Wow, that color is wonderful!", followed closely by "Judas Priest this thing is STIFF!". Both desirable traits. The holster I ordered is for a Kimber Ultra Carry II in left hand configuration. I requested the reinforced mouth for the extra few bucks and this is accomplished by adding an extra piece of leather across the weapon profile from top of slide through trigger (see pic).

I wonder if this will be effective as the bulk of the weapon is held inside of the holster as opposed to the outside. The front is basically flat with only about a 1/4" of relief from the side panels. I look forward to trying this in reality and testing the ability to stay open for short periods of time.
The pictures don't do the color justice. The color is darker and richer without my lousy photography skill and a flash. A deep rich mohogany brown.
The clips are metal and very stiff, so the holster should stay where it's put without danger of it pulling off with the weapon.
One thing I definitely like is that the holster is preformed to a radius to fit against the body. (see pic)

For those of you who are my age, kind of like a cylon fighter from Battlestar Galactica (sorry, my geek is showing).
The hoster is VERY stiff which is good in my book. I can always soften it up, but it's almost impossible to make it stiffer at home.
The overall "feel" of the holster is pure quality. While Nate is not a wordy man, he is true to his word and the posting on his site as far as time frame goes. Almost dead on the button with it. I can't wait to get it home and get it broke in. I'll wear it for awhile and update with practical use reviews as needed.
Overall my first impressions are quite good! I hope the practical use of it holds up to the looks. Thanks Nate!

Update time for this one.
I've had the holster for 8 days, and been wearing it almost non stop (in the wood shop and everthing :D ) for 6. The first two days I had it holding my Ultra Carry II which was wrapped in 3 layers of paper towels at the time and left it in the drawer to stretch fit it. It came out of the drawer with a perfect fit, not too snug, not too loose.
After wearing it for just over a solid week, I am VERY happy with this holster! It is comfortable as can be, rides low (something I wanted specifically), and is VERY stable both during body movement and during draws. I've found that the best concealment (and the most comfort as well) comes when the weapon is just barely behind 90 degrees of my hip. The holster keeps the weapon tucked tight against the body and the position keeps the butt of the weapon from printing when doing anything besides blatantly bending over at the waist. Even when doing that, an outer shirt more than covers any printing.
There are two minor negatives that I have noticed. Neither of which would begin to deter me from purchasing another holster for my other weapons from UBG. Here they are:
There was some dye transfer to my side during the first few days of wearing it. It washes off, so it's no biggie at all, but I want to give both sides accurately.
The second negative is that the metal clips that Nate uses on this holster have very sharp and will cut up a belt pretty good if you try to "scoot" it along, or try to just push it down over the belt. This is easily corrected by simply using the index finger to open the clip(s) while moving it or putting it on. It only took me one time to figure that out, but my belt has some pretty good scrapes on it. My fault, not the holsters. The clips are very strong and tight and hold the holster very steady, so this is easily overlooked in the negative department. You just have to learn how to use them that's all.
Overall, I give this holster a big two thumbs up!
I will try to remember to get some pics of the holster on both concealed and not to further help in the review. Maybe this weekend. We'll see.
Hope this has given you the proper amount of info, if not, just ask any and all questions, and if I can, I'll answer them. Of course, Nate is the one to ask about the technical stuff of the holster, I can just try to be objective and accurate in the more practical side of things.
See ya on the boards!
