View Full Version : Adjustable Trigger?

I friend of mine has an old Silver Cup 1911. These were built up using surplus GI slides (and barrels?) on Essex frames, some years ago. He says the trigger has way too much take-up and he'd like to correct that.
I know of innumerable sources for triggers with over-travel screws, but what's available to adjust for initial take-up? I vaguely recall reading something about a trigger with a tab or tabs on the stirrup? Does that sound right?
What's out there?

McCormick makes a trigger like that. There are tabs on both sides of the stirrup just behind the trigger. Flaring them slightly reduces the forward travel of the trigger, reducing take-up.

Thank you. I have passed that along -- the rest is up to him.
I looked at them on the CMC web site. Too bad they only have one style of shoe and the one they have is so ugly.

Hawk...STI triggers also have the tabs and the short LOP is as short as I have found in skeletonized. Other colors and lengths are available also. Check Midway as their website has better illustrations(photos).

Just getting a new trigger can help too. My SW1911 had the common loose trigger, a lot of forwards-backwards slack. I put in a C&S trigger and the slack was gone. No adjustment necessary.

The Fusion triggers also have the adjustment tabs. Plus he has full trigger groups on GunBroker at a great price. Search for Fusion, Trigger, you'll find 'em.
