are all safety levers the same? I don't think so. The safeties on the Springfield 1911 are so thin that the plungers always ride over them causing weakness in the tube eventually.. this happened to mine.
Are the Wilson Safeties any better? or thicker I should say?

Don't know about the ones that come stock on the pistols, but as far as after-market goes, SVI is the only milled one out there. It is not drop-in, though, and you will need a gunsmith to install it.

Sounds like Springfield as had a bad batch of safeties, might want to contact them about it and let them know so they can fix the problem.

More likely the plunger tube wasn't properly staked and that's what allows the plunger to ride over the safety paddle. I think you should return the pistol to Springfield and ask them to fix it.

I recently upgraded my Kimber ambi safety to an Ed Brown single sided safety. The metal used makes the safety feel much more robust.

I knew nothing of the SVI, and if I had to do it over again, I might investigate it but I'm very happy with the Ed Brown safety.

Looks good too, if that counts for anything.
