I know I've seen the answer to this question....just can't find it. What aftermarket manufacturer produces a drop-in beaver tail/grip safety for our weapon? Any help would be appreciated and anyone who's done it already...how do you like it? I love shooting the New Agent and everything about it except the stock beaver tail. Cuts into the fat of my hand everytime I shoot....I know....I know....shoot more and it will calis up. Don't need the sarcasm....just a beaver tail that works on the gun. Thank's alot! Mark
I just purchased a Wilson Combat drop-in grip safety for my New Agent.
It's #429BC for the Commander/Officer application.
I haven't installed it yet.
Also bought a Wilson tactical ambi thumb safety to install at the same time.

The 429BC will work but be prepared to possibly file down the bottom of the foot that engages the back of the trigger bow. It is best to take everything out and have just the trigger and the GS in the frame and see how much has to come off if the GS is too tall..It doesn't take much or else the GS will not hold the trigger at bay. Same with the TS as the angle has to be just right when filing down the inside tab.

Appreciate the info gentlemen. :) Grainfed....what are you a machinist/tool-die man? I plan on letting a reputable gunsmith install the Wilson Beaver Tail. I'm embarrassed to say it but you lost me on all internal workings talk. Sorry I don't know more yet. Best, Mark

Nope, just took the thing apart until I could put it back together again and have it go boom. Good idea to let a gunsmith do the work. Ken Crawley has given me a few tips on my trips down to see him and it has really helped. He is one fine gunsmith and gentleman. Here's what you're after.....

what I'm looking to accomplish for my New Agent. Hard to tell...is that beaver tail stainless or blued? Been kicking around the thought of dropping in a stainless for a different kind of look. Any opinions on that my friends? Best, Mark

Mark...I would look at a stainless tail and TS. Ken Crawley did just that on my 1991 Compact saying that those 2 parts are the ones that receive the most skin contact and likely to fade. I like the look of it against the black oxide finish he put on the entire pistol. And you could add a stainless(polished) slide lock with the other two. STI makes a great looking and feeling thumb safety in stainless.

the 429BC blued from Wilson. Call me a chicken $#@& for not going with the stainless. I'd love to see a photo of yours Mr. Grainfed. I'm imagining that it looks very sweet. I'm looking forward to getting the Wilson Beaver Tail and having it installed. That minor modification in itself will create the perfect Colt for my needs. Can't think of anything else I'd do different with it. I truly appreciate the help and advice from you all. Thank you! All the best, Mark

Grain.... it's no longer Kimber_man ;)
Watchdog, about the only photo you'll see is the one Grain already supplied as that pistol is now resting in my hands.... and photos can be seen under the New Agent with CT grips post. The Wilson GS DOES look very nice on the pistol, but the one I had on it was modified just a smidgen too much and it would allow the trigger to slip past the GS and engage the hammer without depressing the GS. I would personally just drop it in and see how she works..... if you DO have to file, make sure you go slow, and take care to only file off a very small amount each time.
