I just recently purchased a colt 1918/1911,yesterday I stripped

down to clean it, under one of the wood grips was a note written

with an old fountain pen, it read "michelle i will always love you

buck" somthing.I thought it was pretty interesting.

Wow, thats some history there. Wonder if Buck ever made it back to Michelle.

That's way cool. Little bits of history like that just add to the enjoyment of collecting the older guns that have seen action.

Okay, now just suppose this 'Buck' met 'Michelle' in France, eh? Hinky-Dinky Parlez-Vous. So, he put this note under the grip and told his buddy to take it to Michelle if he bought the farm. The nexy day, both of them were taken out by a 'Screamin' Mimi', the pistol was turned in and the grip was never taken off until you did it.

Never heard of finding a note under the grips before ,I have heard of people finding things in the buttstock of their shotgun /rifle's .I think I would frame it and keep it as a great memento to go with the pistol .Really stir's the imigination !!!

That's cool. I wonder if you can track the history of that pistol and find Buck or Michelle.

It's like a prize in a Crack Jack box. It would be interesting to find information from the note.

a garand of mine that i picked up from cmp had a old love note and a rolled up picture of a asian(ish) possably hawian lady in the cleaning kit hole. sadly, time had gotten the better of them.
