Ok...help guys......that Colt bug just bit me again & its only been 2 weeks since I've bought one. Help me decide on which one or I will be forced to purchase both........$600 each or both for $1200.....
Which would you guys go with:
Colt MK IV Series 80 Govt Model
-skeletonzied trigger
-skeletonized hammer
-oversized mag well
-aftermarket beavertail safety
-Nowlin Custom barrel
-Wilson barrel link

Colt NRM Series 80 Gov't Model SS
only thing changed is the trigger &
the barrel bushing

Is it a fair price for either?.....or should I ask to go alittle bit lower on either.....

Put 10 C notes in your pocket and go look again. Both for a grand would seem like a fairly decent deal to me. I'd get rid of those wood finger grips though.

Or just offer him 550 for the SS one.

I agree with Paul, I like my Colts to be like they they came from the factory.
Seems like a pretty fair price for either pistol if they are in good working order.

I have to agree......the NRM.
Haggle. The worst he can do is say "no."

I think the MK IV would look a lot better with different grips,it's probably me but i don't like the grips that are on it now,by changing them it will change the looks of it.They are both good guns but here is mine with the grips that came on it and i wouldn't change them for anything. If my palms get sweaty i know i still have a good grip.WHy not get both ? and good luck with your choice.

So hard to chose........white grips would look really nice on the mk iv......pearl grips would look really nice on the SS....... :butthead: :butthead:
Ok would this help....I already have two SS NRM Gov't Models....one more wouldn't hurt.......
I have never held an MK IV Gov't Model........
I'll sleep on it......hopefully I receive more responses or pictures of both models from someone....

I'd lean towards the NRM. Maybe you could get both for a good price, as long as they haven't been "tinkered with" too much, might be something to look in to.

It sounds like you are buying for the sake of buying. You have 2 SS NRMs?......and a MKIV Gov't is the same thing, with different rollmarks and perhaps smaller sights on the earlier models. Perhaps you could consider looking for Colt models you don't have?

I'd choose the NRM... I also prefer Colt's in "factory" condition.

I've got to go with Paul on this one. Unless you could get them for a super low price, I woud put the money toward something you don't have. I have 8 COLT's and none of them are of the same model. Variety is the Spice of life! :D

Have you considered the Series 70 Repro, the WW1 Repro or even the New Agent?

I change my opinion since you have a few already. Buy something you don't already have. Maybe an officers model?? Or a Gold Cup national match???

Just a suggestion.

That Commander is for sale on Glocktalk today. Are you selling it or did you sell it to someone else who is re-selling it?

The "I like 'em stock." crowd always sings the same song but what matters is what you want. Altered doesn't hurt anything but it does matter who did the work and can you verify it. My customized Colts all have papers to show who did the work. If done by a competent or "name" 'smith then alterations can be fine if you like them. If done poorly by a "no name" then it lowers the value considerably. Also, it never hurts to offer a lower price as all they can do is reject it. ;)

I agree. Factory configuration is always preferable.

$600 is a fair price for either, but not great. IMHO the NRM is worth more than the heavily modified Mark IV.
