Hello,
Can anyone advise me if the size of the front sight tenon on a Colt 70 Series Reissue is small or large ( and actual size if possible)? Also does anyone have knowledge of a front night sight that is the same size as the original so as not to have to change out the rear sight (looking for a premium brand)? Intensions are to replace the front and have the rear sight groove opened up. Does this sound like a good choice? Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a good option, I have that set-up on several pistols. The repros use the later large tenon, Brownells has the front sight you need, 892-101-001.

Or Tooltech Gunsight will install just the front.

Thanks for your reply OD*. I was considering having the rear sight notch opened to .140" as I believe this is the width used on the often recommended Yost/Bonitz repro rear sight replacement. Did you have any sight issues on the converted pistols? Will be using 230 Hardball and 230 grain HST. If you have any pictures of such a converted pistol I would appreciate seeing it. Thank you kind Sir.

You are very welcome my friend.

I had absolutely no issues with shot placement, there wasn't any difference in POI with my pistols (and about all I shoot is 225/230 grain bullets). And, you are correct, the Yo-Bo's are .140", you might even think about going wider, like .156".

If you have any pictures of such a converted pistol I would appreciate seeing it.
With a stock Colt rear sight, or with the Yo-Bo's?
I'm not sure I have any pictures with the stock Colt sight.

Hello again OD*,
.156" you say! Hmmmm. My eyes ain't what they used to be. If you have the pixs with the standard sights you can post that would be cool. Waiting to hear back from tooltech. Funny thing is a Gold Cup sight works fine for me, will have to measure it out. Thanks again for your informative input. Take care.

Thanks OD*, you have a nice herd there! What type of hammer do you have on the 1991A1? Beautiful.

Thanks amigo.

The hammer is an EMC wide spur, you can get them through Brownells.

I'm pretty sure that the Yo-bo retro sight is what Harrison is putting on the WWI repro build. Is that serrated on the rear Dan?

Is that serrated on the rear Dan?
Yes they are, the original Robar's were plain.

Hey OD*
That EMC hammer looks great. Did you have to alter the grip safety to get it to fit. Would you consider it a Wide Spur or a short wide? Thanks for any info.

Thank you.

No Sir, no alterations were necessary. If I could find a well made short wide spur I might have went with that. The Mason short spur's quality doesn't impress me, the EMC product does. ;)

May I ask if you get bitten by the hammer? So far I only get damage from the sharp lower edges of the tang safety, wondering if I'll now experience the bite.
Wasn't 1911Tuner trying out a wide spur current manufacturer? Anyway thanks again for sharing you assistance and knowledge.

No Sir, I've never been bitten by the hammer, I don't have real fleshy hands though. Tuner has a Barryhill hammer, same as the EMC.
