Well, I went to the gunstore to pick up a special-edition Para I ordered after my last deployment and this followed me home. I asked them to convince me not to buy it, but the gun shop employees were less than helpful in fulfilling that request. So, meet the Talo Premier Edition of the Government XSE that now resides in my safe.

beautiful Colt. Coltitis is rough on the bank account sometimes, but worth it. In a way I am almost glad Colts are hard to come by up here in MA. I could here my wife now; "what do you mean MY car payment is a few days late...."

That's a pretty sharp looking Colt. Congrats.
Are you going to shoot it?

Thanks for all the comments, folks. It's the only engraved pistol I have ever seen that I didn't think looked tacky. Are you going to shoot it?I have so many pistols that are shooters that I haven't used in years, so it will be a long time before I get around to shooting it.

Nice find. Absolutely beautiful. The nicest Talo design I have seen.
Congrats! And yes... Coltitis, you go in for a Para, and come out with
your new beauty. I think it's incurable.

I agree with the comment about Talo pistols usually being tacky, but yours is sharp. I'm glad you had the funds available to get the Colt AND the Para you went in for initially!

I know what you mean about how it takes forever to shoot the newer pistols that we purchase. I have a 22 Diamondback and a 1949 Colt Commercial that I've had for a while now and haven't shot either yet. So many guns and so little time!

It really is the one tough part of our passion....... choosing which pistols to take out to play for the day. :D

That's a real beauty. Practice your photog skills and plan to submit it as an entry for the 2009 M1911.org Calendar!

That's a real beauty. Practice your photog skills and plan to submit it as an entry for the 2009 M1911.org Calendar!I don't need much practice for next year's calendar. That was a quickie shot for insurance purposes. I can be artistic when I want to. Here's my favorite one:

Not a Colt, but not bad. I might submit that one, too.

That's very, very nice. I don't think that I could resist one, either.

A TALO edition might make the next calender cover, who'd have thunk?! Congrats, and great photos!

Beautiful TALO. Excellent engraving without "overcooking" it. Congratulations.

Nice find! Engraving is not overwhelming = classy :)

I know what you mean about Coltitis... a year ago, I didn't have a single Colt (was not a fan of them b/c I had never tried them). Now a year later, the only 1911's I have are COLTS...5 of them to be exact! 1922 Commercial Gov't (Nickle/Blue), Delta Gold Cup (SS), Gov't Series 80 MarkIV (Blue), pre-80 series Combat Commander 9mm AND 45acp (both Blue)!

Time to check into a help group ;)

IZ...

OK now you did it. (and all else on here that enable)
That is such a beautiful and tasteful Talo that you
just got that ever since you posted the pics, I have
been looking into them and as of today, I have a
Talo Royal Gold Cup headed in my direction. (and yes...
I will post pics of it when it arrives)

TireFlyer... you and I sound like twins... one year ago I had
Glocks, Glocks, and more Glocks. Now... it's Colts, Colts
and more Colts, and a Les Baer SRP thrown in just to round
out the team)

Enablers... each and every one of you! (and bless you for that one and all)

RW, that Talo GC is purdy, too!

A.B. Yep... the Royal GC is really purdy. Nice and clean.
One look and I was Colt road kill with a hole in my wallet.

Boy, you sure have some "purdy" guns yourself. Beautiful grips on your Colts.
Those on your LB on the right in the pic... really nice. Where did
you find those? They look great!

Thanks, RW

...One look and I was Colt road kill with a hole in my wallet...Right, I'm pretty leery about actually touching one with a price tag on it!

Thank you very much, RW. I seem to have accumulated some more Colts, since that photo.

The stocks on the NM are from Karl Nill (http://www.nill-griffe.com/). Pretty expensive, but they closely match a tracing of your hand to one of their patterns. Sophisticated mfg--CNC, then finished by craftsmen-- means relatively fast service, too (although shipping from the EU seems to take 4+ weeks. Stocks are classified as "dangerous," I gather. ). I do get Christmas cards from Herr Wilfried Nill (the son of the founder), though.

Here are a couple of profiles of the Baer (not a Colt, but there is a Combat Commander lurking in one pic...):

AB,

Beautiful gun! (I would have said beautiful Les Baer but
this is a Colt post) Man... those grips are cool!
Thanks for the info on them. I will go check their site out.

I thank you... my wallet does not.

Thank you, OD! That was my first Baer, for weeks I frightened everyone with random bursts of diabolical laughter (or, at least, a whole lot more often and random, anyway).

Thank you, RW. My wallet commiserates with yours!
