Not 100% sure what I have...aside from it all looks like the original parts. It was a RIA rebuild, has FJA (Frank J. Atwood), E and P(Proof) on the left side of the frame and on top of the barrel in front of the rear sight), Remington Rand, Syracuse, NY. U.S.A. on the slide. The right side of the frame carries UNITED STATES PROPERTY M1911A1U.S. ARMY, serial NO.19725xx, RIA, a single Ordinance stamp, perhaps FV (or FK?) *Found the note on Frank Krack* on the trigger guard and a 2 (maybe an 8?) on the bottom of the trigger guard. The barrel is stamped HS (as expected). It has an 8 groove mainspring housing, the right sights, checkered hammer, short trigger and thumb safety, grooved slide release.

I have huge (pretty bad) pics...getting them posted now, will likely done later tonight. *DONE*

What *exactly* is it aside from what I know...for example, is it mostly original? The finish has some wear but looks like I would expect color-wise. There's not much wear inside and the barrel is in fine shape. Any idea of fair value?

Thanks in advance...nice forum ya'll have here!

Sorry Bob...it was missing a space so I have corrected it.

It seems to me that this pistol has all the right parts, stamps, numbers and so on...what do you think?

Hi

Ok, the pictures work.

Nice pictures of a nice pistol !!

I'm no expert, but those sure do look like a bunch of WWII parts to me.

Depending on the barrel markings...... it looks to be a $800-$1000 RR.

The barrel is blued, ramp is white, lug carries HS for High Standard on the right side and P for proof on the left. There are no other marks on it.

I *think* it's all original...

'HS' barrel is correct for RRand.

So...does anyone see anything about this that suggests that it's not all original?

It'd be nice to know even if just for my own satisfaction, as well as to know if I ever choose to sell it.

Hi

Looks pretty "right" to me. I'd certainly not go off trying to turn it into something else.

I'd be very pleased if it is indeed all correct. It reminds me of what I initially qualified with in 1972 (shot well enough to get my *Expert* badge first time out).

I guess I don't know enough to understand what you mean by turning it into something else...do you mean that you wouldn't sell it off to get a modern piece of metal? I've plenty of modern handguns...don't need to get rid of this old soldier at all.

Hi

Some of these old pistols get "improved" by swapping around parts or by re-finishing. To me that's turning them into something they are not. They came by the wear and odd part here or there honestly.

Ahh...got'cha...no refinishing in this one's future.

Thanks!
