What does a lightweight SS Commander weigh? Colt's website doesn't give this information. Also, is the XSE series the only current production lightweight SS Commander available? Thanks

It should be pretty close to the Para-Ordnance lightweight LTC, which is listed in the Para catalog at 28 ounces (compared to 35 ounces for the all steel versions).

Nominal weight for the Colt LW Commander is 27 ounces, empty. This will vary a little with different lots of steel and aluminum alloys...but you'd probably need a postal scale to see it.
Steel-framed Combat Commanders list at 35 ounces...about 4 ounces less than the steel-framed 5-inch guns...but a few will hit 36 on occasion.
All guns with added extras like extended safeties and slidestops...ducktail grip safeties, larger sights and the like will be a little heavier.

Wait a sec --
The lightweight XSE Commanders are not all stainless steel. They are stainless slides with aluminum receivers. There's an all stainless Commander, a lightweight Commander in .45 ACP, and a lightweight Commander in Super .38. There is no all-stainless lightweight.

I think the XSE is it at the moment. It is 814 grams with the empty supplied mag. You can loose a little more weight if you replace the FLGR (Full Length Guide Rod) with the more traditional setup.

An older all SS Commander (1991 manufacture) without the FLGR is 983 grams (again with supplied Colt mag).

Hawk, yes, there is no Lightweight 100% stainless steel pistol, by definition "Lightweight" means alloy frame. The model David posted has a alloy frame and a stainless steel slide.
Dakota, I just love that old stainless stell Combat Commander. The perfect pistol for me.
