I am very much looking to buy a rem rand 1911 and I have a c&R. Many internet dealers represent this gun as a curio and Relic but it is not listed on any ATF lists. Does the 50 year old catagory apply? I'm a little paranoid about ATF and don't want to get stung and loose my guns.
Thanks

I know you've got this :) , but I put the link below. At the top of the ATF list is:
"All properly marked and identified semiautomatic pistols and revolvers used by, or mfd. for, any military organization prior to 1946." http://www.atf.treas.gov/firearms/curios/sec2.htm
It's a little confusing, because they don't list it specifically, but that (1946) would include all Remington Rands, as well as all other makes of the M1911A1 bought by the military. Please, anyone, correct me if I'm overstating, but pretty much anything 50+ is good, unless they specifically limit it.
Cheers!

Thanks AB. Looks like I am good to go. I am having a good time trying to buy one in good shape and at the right price. Sooner or later I will score.

Good hunting!!!
And be careful! A (rare, alas) copy of Chas. Clawson's "Collector's Guide to Colt .45 Service Pistols, Models of 1911 and 1911A1, 3rd Edition" is highly recommended. I'm sure you know, there are a lot of questionable ones out there for sale.
Cheers, AB
