Hello All,

Recently, I aquired a 1911, serial # 90XXX, which was, carried by the bugler of Troop C, First Ohio Cavalry while on border patrol service during the Punitive Expedition of 1916-1917. Included is a RIA M1912 Holster (dated 1913 and stamped with an "Ohio" in rectangle with the letters TC), an RIA magazine pouch dated 1914, and three two-tone magazines. Unfortunately, the leather gear was damaged during the Ohio river flood of 1937. I am currently gathering data on the trooper, and also have some lovely panoramic photos of Troop C in review in El Paso, 1917.

WOW! That is an interesting 1911. For posting Pic's follow the guidelines listed in FAQ, on the top left side of this page. We would like to see all of Gun and Troop Pic's.

Welcome to the Forum. That's a nice find and a pick up. It's too bad the holster was damaged as it is a perfect companion to go with it. Treasure it.

how did you happen upon the history of your gun? it is a shame about the holster. i got rid of 2 of them , both left handed, a while back without realising what they were. it is amazing that they found the holster after the flood. i live in the cincinnati area, and have seen a lot of pictures of the flood. congradulations on a beautiful find.

I aquired it from the daughter (now deceased) of the owner. I also learned from a family friend that he served in Europe during WWI. The First Ohio Cavalry was transformed into an artillery unit. From what I am told, after the war he returned home to Cincinnati but later enlisted in the Coast Guard which became his career.
