Can anyone recommend a good Series 80 Commander style hammer? I am looking to replace the factory hammer. Any advice would be appreciated!

I've got a brand new in the package Wilson Commander hammer. Can't remember the price, will let you know when I get home.

Howdy TrapK!

If your Colt has the original (blue) spur-type hammer, and the gun hasn't had a trigger job, I'll give 35 bucks for it to help defray the cost. Let me know and a MO will be on the way.

By the way...You do know that you'll have to either swap out or modify the
grip safety...right?

Okay I got home and checked out the hammer.
Its an original Wilson solid SS (still in the pkg), its a dead ringer for the original Colt Commander hammer. As I have a 70's Commander in my shop now, and looking at them side by side. The hooks are already cut & squared. 32.00 shipped.

Tuner: I will have to check the gun later when I get home. BTW, it does have an aftermarket adjustable trigger, so I'm thinking the trigger has been worked on. Not sure, bought it used.

Wichaka: Thanks for checking on the hammer, but I am looking for a different "style" hammer than the Colt factory. I guess I'm not sure what "style" I want!!!!

I've also got an Ed Brown hardcore hammer with the elongated hole (blue or SS). A McCormick SS with the squared off head, I don't see those much anymore. Or a Nowlin with polished sides and blued edge.

Take your time, there's so many parts available now for 1911's.........almost too many. Hard to make a decision..........

Well now...A different style eh? I just happen to have a slightly used
stainless hammer that I pulled off a Colt XSE Commander...If your Colt doesn't seem to have a hair trigger...chances are that just the trigger was changed.
Some folks just didn't cotton to those nylon triggers.

The XSE hammer is the slotted McCormick style...Swap ya for that spur type.
