Work on a nickle plated gun

I have a nickel plated norinco 1911.I want to have a high ride beavertail and bomar sights installed.Will I have to refinish the gun.

In order to get a full beavertail to look right, you probably will have to do work on the frame. As soon as you do that, it's off for a re-finish job.

Once you've breached the plating, it generally leads to flaking and peeling from the moisture that gets in.
