I am putting a 9mil 1911 together and a couple things have come up.

plunger tube I have when installed is very long. When it is on and the slide stop is put in I do not think there is enough room for the plungers and the spring.

also are slide stops one size fits all or do I need a 9mil slide stop?

how many coils are in a commander length recoil spring?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
thx.

Hi

Welcome to the forum !!!

It probably would help out if you would explain a little bit about what parts you already have and what you are trying to do.

Pretty sure the tubes are all the same length. Is your view of the plunger extending out of the tube why you ask the question?
If it is, push the plunger back in there.

The slidestop pin should be .200" in diameter or a little bit smaller, like .198". They're the same length for 1911's in either caliber.

I do recoil springs by strength more than by coil counts, but I've seen 23 bandied about.

Hi

There have been a couple of threads about this or that frame not "liking" this or that slide stop. I have never had it happen, but apparently it does.

What frame, slide and barrel are you using?

I am using a Fusion slide and barrel. The frame is a norinco(they are readily available and cheap here $100.00)

I just compared the plunger tube to the one on my para and it is a bit longer, so I will file it down atleast an 8th.
should be fine then.

thx for the input.
All parts are fusion except the frame. All i need to do is asssembly function test, refinish frame and I am done. I will post pics when finished.

Hi

It will be interesting to see how the Fusion slide and Norinco frame get along with each other fit wise.
