View Full Version : My NM Holster Review!

I typed up this nice long review earlier today, and it looks like when I thought I had posted it, I may have only previewed the post and then closed the window without posting the actual thread, so here goes again:

Usually, I wouldn't post a review after such a short period of owning a holster, but I am so happy with my NM #1, that I will go ahead and type one up. I ordered my Nick Matthews (http://www.nm-holsters.com) holster on Friday, 3/7, and finalized the deal later on that same night after some great communication and answers from Nick Matthews. On Sunday, 3/9, Nick wrote me to say my holster was complete and shipping the next day. The holster arrived on Thursday, 3/13 and I was excited to rip into the box and see the final result.

First impressions were that the holster was very well made out of quality leather with much attention to detail. The stitching was excellent, the color was rich, and the snaps were easy to operate. I put my Springfield EMP in the holster, replaced it in the ziploc bag and left it sitting for the day as I visited my father in law in the hospital. Later that night, I replaced the EMP with the Colt Defender that would normally reside in the holster, and repeatedly worked the gun in and out of the leather to break it in. The fitment was perfect for the 3" 1911. I then strapped it on and I've worn it since, with the exception of sleeping in it (which I was also tempted to try!). The holster is unbelievably comfortable. The leather strap that protects my body from the gun is the right size and does it's job. The holster rides where it should and doesn't move. The draws have become increasingly easier as the leather breaks in, and re-holstering is coming right along as well.

I would recommend Nick Matthews to anyone. The price and quality are unbeatable. Here are a few pictures, but they are rather dark, so forgive my lacking photography skills:

I think I'll order a brown one sometime soon. But then I'll have to order a brown belt as well!

That would be great. I was going to order another one from Crossbreed, but I'd hold out if Nick plans to make them in the future.

in response to my comment about using a dickie's belt from wally world:

"Perfect, that's actually what I wear also exept mine is about 7 years old. I havn't ventured into belts yet, but someday.

Thanks,
Nick."

like the sig 220 holster he's going to be doing for me in the future, i'm sure he'll do anything if he gets enough requests.

Just order a #1 from Nick. This will be my first IWB but this review convinced me to give it a try (also the price). Thank's for a great review.

nice pics. I promised Nick I would do a review, but seeing as you pretty much have this site covered, i'll post it elsewhere.

Couldn't hurt to have another review. Different people, different points of view. I posted the review on 1911forum and THR. Post yours everywhere too!

I just ordered my #1 from Nick Matthews today along with a mag carrier. I got the saddle brown for a full sized 1911. I'll post pictures and impressions when I get it.

Are there any others aside from theReeves that got one of these? Impressions? Pics? Reviews?

Nice. I will have mine sometime before next weekend....can't wait. I'd love to see some pics of the saddle brown that you got.

This will be my first leather holster, IWB or otherwise. I'd been wanting a VM2 for a long time but found this for a fraction of the cost and wait time and it looked really well thought out.

Here are a few shots with my Razorback in it.... VERY nicely done. I can't wait to wear it around and break in some of the stiffness! More to come!

Did you buy the #1 or #2 model from NM?

As per my subject line, its a #1 in Saddle Brown with Black Snaps and a #3 mag carrier. On Friday, I'm leaving to Table Rock lake to visit Pops for the weekend to do some Morel Mushroom hunting, shooting and crappie fishin' and you can bet my 10mm will be riding in my new rig. :)
