Can the ejector be tuned to eject brass in different directions? I have a colt Defender thats ejecting brass towards my head, sometimes hitting me on the forehead or my cap. I have a Wilson Combat bullet proof extractor in it thats been tuned. Does it have to be done by a gunsmith or is it easy enough for a person to do it himself? Is there another thread that might explain how to adjust it?

Hi
Assuming the ejection port is lowered, the next step is to take a look at the tuning of the extractor. Once you have checked that move on to the ejector. The extractor has a lot more influence over the brass than the ejector.

These four threads deal with a similar problem in a full size 1911:

• Ejector Tuning
• Brass Damage Cause
Give 'em a sniff! Cheers
