Recently picked up a CC in 9mm luger. Serial # is a 70bsxxxxx, 1976. My question is did these come out with a silver barrel from the factory? Im thinking the barrel has been replaced before. My .38 super CC has a blued or dark barrel.

My 1978 9mm CC has a polished steel "silver" barrel and is original.

It could have been a replacement, it might have been orig. Nickle at that time I think, not SS. Pictures would help a lot, esp. top of the slide about the ejection port, plus the barrel out of the gun. with the bushing.

Blued guns have blued barrels
Nickel guns have nickel barrels
Any other way is non-original

Those are two of the nicest older Commanders I've seen if original.
Both of my 9mm Commanders have blued barrels although the blueing on the show part of my later gun was so badly scored and worn from use that I polished it away.
stuff like that only matters on mint examples.

thanks Hill. the .38 super is new, unfired, and i think is gonna be one of my safe queens. The 9mm has a little wear and will probably do some duty.
