I have been researching a new Commander sized 1911 for weeks now. I dug deep into literally EVERY manufcturer, every model, every option package....and settled a plain blue steel Colt Commander. I pick it up Tuesday! :D

Agreed... excellent choice
My FIRST 1911 was a Colt back in 1986. Then I strayed... yes, I did, and I purchased many 1911s with differnet names stamped on them. I never felt the same way about them as I did my Colt.
So, I sold them all a few years ago, and now have 10 Colt 1911s of different flavors. Nothing feels the same to me.
I think they are the best, but that is always up for debate.
However.. I KNOW I like Colts the best.

Excellent choice, I am a known lover of Commanders (especially this one).

Yep, just like that. Part of my reasoning, is that I have had it's "Big Brother"...a full sized Colt "Enhanced" 1911 that I bought new sometime in the mid 90's or so. I shoot it pretty regular, and it has never, ever jammed or hiccupped. I have never felt the need for any improvements over the factory offering.

Congratulations on your Colt, the Commander was my first. While each of my Colts feels right for I use them for, if I could only have one Colt :scared: and had to use it for everything it would be my Commander.

You did good. I have had other 1911s but there is much to be said for the original and best. I am waiting for my new Commnader to arrive.

There's a Nader pistol? As in Ralph Nader? Hope it's safe in ALL conditions.:D
(just kidding)

Yes, the Nader pistol, it's ok when shot over level ground but in the hills and corners it tends to roll over and shoot sideways.
