I finally received my new Gold Cup Trophy. I am new to shooting and have become very interested in 1911s and colts. I enjoy all the information and knowledge that you all share. Any recommendations for accessories that I should have? I am a newbie but have a shooting buddy who is pretty knowledgeable. He has an Ed Brown Executive Elite and a Les Baer target pistol he has graciously let me fire. Now I have my very own 1911 :D Any advice or recommendations is appreciated. I will try to post some pics.

Welcome to the forum Kevwel, and very nice Colt! As far as accessories, you may want to consider buying a few extra mags. Other than that, i'd say buy some ammo and have fun with it ;). Please keep us posted on how it shoots!

Welcome to the forum. That is a nice Gold Cup Trophy, I would take it out and shoot it before I think about any changes.

Welcome. I just got the addiction. On my third Colt is as many weeks.
Sorry. Hey; shoot that thing and take care of it.

Kevwell,
I've got one of the same model. I had my doubts about it measuring up to older guns that share (most of) the name, but it turned into a 1" grouping marvel once I dialed in a load it likes best.
I notice that you're using a Canon SD600. Take your pistol outside in bright overcast light, no sun, and photo it using the macro for nice results. The 600x800 setting will be fine. Try - you'll like.

I finally was able to take my new GCT to the range. I loved the way she felt in my hand. The fit and finish are nice! I used cheap "Blazer" ammo from Walmart. I had no FTF or any problems. She was pretty dirty after 50 rounds. I cleaned her up and will hopefully go back to the range again today. I had some pretty good groups. I am new at shooting the larger caliber handguns. I have been shooting a S&W 22a to work on my technique. I find myself anticipating the recoil at times. I am definitely a newbie to 1911s. I love them for their history, their construction of all metallic parts, and the good feeling they bring when you pick them up!! Thank you all for your compliments and input. I will work on my camera and see if I can come up with some better pics.
Welcome to the forum, congrats on your new Colt.

Welcome and that is a nice choice for number 1. When you get so many that you go to sleep trying to remember what you have, then you have arrived.... somewhere.
