I'm picking up a Colt .45 MK4 Series 70 (circa 1976), great pistol, but no box or manual. Since the Colt is not going to be a "safe queen," it makes good sense that I should at least have a manual on hand for general info. I'd like an original for the 1st series 70 (pre 1983 vintage), if its not too cost limiting, but a reprint would do. Any thoughts?

Colt has several different downloadable manuals on their website.

This is for the reproduction S70. I couldn't find a copy of an original.

You might call Colt (1 800 962 Colt) and ask if they have any.

The manual was pretty limited. Of course I remember a 1974 Gov. I bought back in 1974. Much more information online now.

Thanks...I have a bid in on an original copy posted in an online auction. The Colt phone number will come in handy, though, as a fall back strategy if I'm out bid. Jack
