Along with all of my pills from the VA came this nice 9mm Commander in today's mail.
Look at all those scratches, especially to the annodized frame. It does have a nice homey nature to it though, like a comfortable chair or an old favorite pair of slippers.
Do I have to say that I love it! How about those grips, eh?

The mailman was supposed to deliver that to MY address! You just can't find good help anymore!
She's a real beauty. Congratulations!

Huh, and all this time i thought it was supposed to be delivered to ME ;)!!!
VERY nice, Hill!!!!! I can't get enough of the early Commanders. AND a 9mm taboot!!! I'd leave it "as is" personally...

It's better than I thought it'd be from the guy's photos. I opened the box, gave it a quick wipe, and took it out to get it pic'd before the light went bad. Later I'll tear it down and see how much I can do to improve it with secret formulas and the age old witchery that I do.
Now I've got both a combat and LW in 9mm. Gotta' like that!

Lucky dog you :D!
Seriously, that is one very nice pistol. I'd like to see some pics of your whole Colt collection sometime. (and, of course, i'd like to know your "age-old formula's and witchery for firearms improvement" tactics ;) :D)

Very nice Hill. It is nice when we get mail like that. To bad mine always has to go to the gun shops mailbox. :(

you need to get yourself a C&R license. Then the old ones can come right to you.
I make it to be 9 ounces, 28 to 37, lighter than my 9mm Combat Commander. Doesn't seem like much when talking about it but a real difference in my hand and in my IWB holster.
Even more interesting to me is that this gun weighs exactly the same 28 oz of my CCO which is a .45 with commander length slide but shorter Officer alloy frame. The CCO is now changed from original by removal of the recoil spring guide rod system for a capped version like most 1911's have and the replacement of the plastic MSH for a SS one (which turned out to be a push except for putting the weight more in hand than before). I'd have thought the LW Commander would still outweigh the CCO.
Anyway, this new one is a beautiful thing. What marks it has are more like "laying in a drawer and maybe sliding around a little" marks and scratches than they are holster wear. I think I can 'disappear' most of them.
