Hello,
I am wondering, but should a trigger on a 1911a1 be loose/wobbly enough that the sides of the trigger can scrape the frame on both sides if the trigger is pushed alittle sideways when firing?

Hi

It's not unheard of to have a trigger like that.

On a match pistol you probably would fit the trigger tighter than that.

How well the trigger is fit varies a bit from gun to gun. Some are pretty loose and some are fit well. It's sort of luck of the draw with many.

Hi

The idea in the design is that you have enough clearance to keep the trigger from hanging up when the gun is packed full of gunk.

Thanks for your replies gentlemen and lady. Its' so bad that you can see the opposite rear side of the stirrup come out of it's groove (with the slide removed) on both sides. I purposely purchased this firearm for it's looks and reliability but this problem destroys the finish of the trigger, can't help consistent trigger pull and I believe that it should be repaired. Will find out when it returns.

Hi

It's tough to tell about something like this from just a description. If you think it needs fixing, then it probably does.

I've got my fingers crossed. It seems as if the back of the stirrup would not be flat to the disconnect/sear depending on which side the trigger was inadvertently pressed. thanks again for the input. Great site!

Hi

The the trigger stirrup is adjusted by bending it so it fits in the frame. It's pretty easy to mess up when you have the pistol apart. It's also possible that it never got fit in the first place.

Hello
I've only got 250 rounds through it. And I have not done a full disassembly on it. Also a few other issues. We'll see....

Hi

Sounds like it wasn't bent to fit at the factory.
