Please help with my latest project of upgrading my NIB NOS Delta Elite. Are the parts other than the slide/barrel, recoil spring, magazines interchangeable with standard 1911 .45 cal parts. I plan to start with the trigger group. Will standard .45 parts fit correctly?

The hammer, trigger, sear, and disconnector are the same. Different, caliber-specific parts include the extractor, ejector, firing pin, and slide stop.

Thanks. How about the magazine release? Are any of the above mentioned caliber specific parts common to other
colts? For example is the firing pin 9mm?
I also understand that there is an early model flat follower and a later round follower for the magazines. Is one better than the other?

I have to ask, as I am nosy (!).....why are you replacing these parts? What is wrong with the originals?

Yes the firing pin is the same as the 9mm. I bought from Wilson, along with a new spring(22#), Shok Buff and FLGR for regular Colt 1911 .45, They shot fine. My understanding was that the magazine, slide, recoil spring, frame, barrel, were 10mm unique and the firing pin, extractor, ejector, were 9mm-10mm specific. The rest .45. I only know for sure what I mentioned earlier.
Hopefully someone else will clarify further.

To answer paul45: Perfection is our goal, excellence is our standard. (hows that for a corny personal mission statement?)
Thanks, MCMIX. Is the slide stop interchangeable in your experience?

I have no first hand experience, but I was told by someone I trust, that although the frame is unique to 10mm the major components are the same as the .45.
