I am having another itch for a blued Combat Commander and I have been eyeballing the New Roll Mark Series 80. If I could find a 70 series version I would not be upset either!!

Does anyone have feedback on this particular pistol?
Thanks in advance....

I have one and like it very much. I've only shot a couple hundred rounds through it but it has functioned flawlessly so far. They can be found on GunBroker for less than $700.00. Here is a link to one auction.

Last I saw, about a week ago, Bud's Gun Shop had them in stock for $690. My has been very reliable, but has a tendancy to throw the brass all over the place, including adding some nicks and marks on top of the slide.

I have one in the stainless and am happy with it. No problems other than the front sight shot loose but Colt took care of it.

I have a blued one just like Rio Vista's above - it has been 100% reliable right out of the box, a nice trigger, and more acurate than I am. One of my favorite guns.

I am on the fence about another 1911 but I seem to keep coming back to this platform in a carry gun. Just wears well!!

Thanks for the talk fellas :)

What is it with those front sights? I had the same thing happen to me also a stainless steel model. Other than that great pistol.

I have about 2600 rounds thru my all steel blued Combat Commander. No malfunctions at all. It's my carry gun, and it requires a good supporting belt and holster, otherwise it'll get a little heavy over extended carry periods. I put Trijicon night sights on it which work really well. The gun is a pleasure to shoot. It like's quality magazines, and 230 gr.Remington Golden Sabers for SD. 230 gr. WWB works good at the range. Love it.

I've got about 350 rounds through mine and it has been flawless as well. No issues with ball or various JHPs. The only change I've made is swapping out the grips for slim Chip McCormicks. This is one of my favorite guns.

Great pistols!
When will you stop pretending that this pistol is yours? I mean you should know by now that this is MY pistol, and you are just safe-keeping it until I get there to pick it up.

:lm:

I just love this Commander!!!!!

"Your" pistol shoots pretty well, too!
Target engaged from 15 yards, fifteen rounds of WWB 230 gr. FMJ, two-handed hold.

not to get too far off topic but what do you guys think that the commander has to offer over the government model? I keep flip flopping as to what I want to get next :)

The Commander model Colts are, for many people, a better balanced weapon than the Government model. Three quarters of an inch makes a great deal of difference in muzzle heaviness, but sacrifices very little in sight radius, bullet velocity, or accuracy.

While there are most certainly performance variances between the two, the Commander model can be quicker from the holster, and in trained hands, as fast on follow-up shots as its five inch brother.

I now own, and have in the past owned, several full size Government model pistols. These are reliable, dependable, accurate firearms. But when I am to be armed, my first choice is one of my Commanders.

I don't know, the Commander feels more balanced in my hands (and in my eyes) than the Government.

Steve, that sure is nice of you to take such good care of John's Commander.

John, if you would like to locate another adoptive parent for a Commander let me know where to apply.

LOL!

By the way Steve, I just wanted to let you know that you are DIRECTLY responsible for my gun show purchase today. Yes, you! Well, you and John. You Commander hoo... errr, excuse me, "ladies of the night." That's right, I bought a Colt Commander today, not a pretty blued one like yours but a brand spanking new Lightweight XSE. I'm as giddy as a schoolgirl. I'll post some obligatory pictures soon.

BTW, the bill is in the mail. :p

Currently, I'm down to my Officer's ACP and New Agent. I've always liked the Commander. I've owned several. Probably time to buy another one.
