I just found and put a deposit on a N.I.B. royal blue gold cup combat commander it has all the papers and blue plastic box and the colt cardboard box . The serial # is 0041gcc .I pay'd $989.00 plus tax is that a fair price? Any idear of the year made? How rare are they? This is my first post here so thank's in advance for any info.

I picked up a used stainless custom edition about a year ago. It's in great shape, but no box or paper work, paid 800. If yours is a custom edition and with that low serial number, you got a great deal
Here's the one I got last year, I switched out the grips and put them away. ( They have the colt Medalions.

I do beleave it is a custom edition as soon as I get it home I'll post some picture's . The bluing is so nice I might not even shoot this one as I already have three more .45 auto's to shoot . I'm thinking of getting some smooth ivory grip's to complement the pretty bluing on this gun.

That is an excellent price, if it is rollmarked "Custom Edition" that will be of the first run of 500 in blued (and 500 in stainless).
Originally it wore wooden stocks.
The next 2 runs of 500 (in each finish) were not rollmarked Custom Edition and wore wrap around rubber stocks.
Welcome to the forum, you have chosen a nice pistol.
Here is mine.

I stopped by the gun shop to put more money down on the gold cup commander and I got to look at it a little better. It is a custom edition as I thought :D hopefully I'll be able to pick it up by the end of march. But I did pick up the mint nickeled S&W mod. 27-2 with the wood box and etc. ;)

You need to check out prices on the net! Try www.budsgunshop.com I believe you'll find "plain Jane" Colts for around 700.00. Look for Colts on Gunbroker.com and gunsamerica.com Some of the large retail stores are asking 100 to 200 more than internet dealers. Good luck!

NYreq lives in Long Island. Wouldn't surprise me if Colts did exceed 900. Cost of living there is outrageuos...His or her best bet would be the internet, but there are a number of internet vendors that will not ship downstate and I believe that one of them is Bud's

Hi I'm new to the forum.
sureshotbob its a very nice gun. I owned one for 2 or 3 years untill I came into financial hardship. Mine had a stainless frame with a blued slide. I dont know how rare it was but I'm searching for another one now (sofar unsucsessfully). If anyone has any info on one I'd be greatfull.

That is one of the nicest guns I have ever seen!!
Notice I did not say Colt, because I mean guns.
You just can't beat that Colt blue when it is really good.
Nothing against stainless, I have a couple, But I love good blueing, you know the kind of finish that looks like you could just reach into it.

Wow. Since I got started acquiring 1911's and have been on the lookout, I have yet to see one of those! Like all have said, coming across one at that price would hAve been a "no brainer" Congrats. If you have other COLT's to play with, I would leave that one in it's current condition and not shoot it, but that's just me! Enjoy it as you see fit.
