Just a question regarding moved threads. Is there some way to tell where a thread was moved to without a search? Also, if the thread is moved why is it I still see replies? One last thing, this is an excellent forum. Though I don't post much I love to read the questions and replies. I asked a simple question at the "other" 1911 forum and they locked it without answering the question. I pm'd the moderator who locked it and told him that he was hasty in his decision. He told me I am hasty to criticize a moderator. Anyway, I found the answer here at this forum. I'll be sticking around here from now on.

I am not a moderator (just a member) in this forum but I understand what you are talking about in other forums. I have only seen one rude person in this forum and they are not a moderator. This site is run very professional and most all the members are polite and don't snipe at others. We come in here to read about or talk about or 1911's and ask questions when we are searching for answers. Enjoy!

We have two ways to move a thread: "With Redirect," and "Without Redirect."
"Without Redirect" completely removes the thread from where it began and moves it to a different subforum. "With Redirect" leaves a title in the index of the originating subforum, but moves the actual thread to a different subforum. The remaining reference is nothing more than a link. If you click on it, you still get to the post/thread, but if you scroll up and look at the forum navigation window on the top of the screen you'll see that you're now in a different subforum.
I typically use "With Redirect" when moving a thread because even if I notify the person who put the thread in the wrong place that it has been moved, there may be other people who have seen it and who want to see it again. By leaving the "Redirect" it makes it possible for them to find it. However, the "With Redirect" option is not available with the rapid moderator tools, it requires doing it the hard way. If a moderator is in a hurry, he/she may not use the "old" thread tools, and thus some threads get moved without redirect.
In any event, a "moved" thread is just that -- moved. It is not deleted or locked, so you SHOULD be able to read it and continue to post to it.
Clear as mud?
