A family friend has mentioned that his Colt 1911 (I think it is a government model) has been having a problem.
The way it was described was he has been shooting only lead wadcutters in it and thinks that possibly it is getting gummed up as a result?
He's owned the gun several years, and says the slide gets stuck, almost every shot, right before it returns to its closed position, but it can be "pushed" forward usually and fired?
Confusing I know, but what do you all make of it?
Think the lead is gumming it up? Need new wadcutters? Need to just clean his gun?
Oh yes and a question from myself, how often do you recommend one should clean his Colt GCT when shooting basically only lead? Every 100 shots? 500?
Thanks
