Got a set of pins from EGW. Miced the link pin, right on the money.

It would not go into the barrel links. It went through the link it self, but not the barrel.

Checked the BPs. The pin is larger than the hole in the barrel by design.

Am I correct that this would have to be an interference fit? Can't think of any other reason.

Chill the pin(s) in the freezer overnight, or apply some propane heat to the lugs right before you need to install it. Or both.

You want it tight. If you have a press you can usually do it with that and no bother about temperatures, but don't pound the pin through. There's a risk of the lugs coming off of the barrel.

10-4. I have a small bench arbor press. Great thing to have around.

Just wanted confirmation of what I saw.

Thanks

If the pins remains a tight press fit after chilling it (and heating the lugs), avoid the possiblity of squeezing the lugs together by using an appropriate sized feeler gauge to fill the gap between the link and its slot between the lugs.
