OK, Got the gun. Put 200 rounds through it today without a single hiccup, totally flawless. Tried it against the Colt Gold Cup NM Series 70 which is my most accurate handgun. Was adjusting the sights on the Fusion throughout the session to get point of impact right on. May still have some windage adjustments to make. The first target (fusion only) was before I shot the Colt (which has a tendency to have hammer bite). The Colt bit me today so the second comparison target is with the Colt firing normally until nearly the last shot and then the Fusion with blood running down the palm of my hand making shooting "difficult". I had to remove grips to clean both guns before I took the photos. The Fusion has a great beavertail on the grip safety. It would be virtually impossible to get hammer bite with the Fusion. Recoil on both seemed nearly identical. The long slide really tames recoil. By the way, the grips on the Colt are the Fusion thin cocobolo grips.

All targets are standing without a rest. The lighting at the indoor range was not very good so I know I could improve. Ammo for the 10mm was American Eagle 180gr FMJ. Ammo for the 45ACP was Magtech 230gr FMJ.

Really Nice Target! Great report, I really like both of the guns, but you may have to replace that hammer on the Colt. ;)

Good Luck!

I know I should replace the hammer and probably grip safety on the Gold Cup. I have all the original parts before I had the accuracy job done, but it has been in this configuration for over 20 years except the grips I just changed. I do have a permanant scar where the hammer has bitten me so many times, I do have a glove that prevents the hammer bite, but forgot to throw it in my range bag last time.

Just got in some hotter ammo from Double Tap. Will try to make it to the range later this week.

Nate,
At about 500 rounds the magwell screw and two grip screws on the right side grip worked themselves loose. I used Loctite-Blue on them and on the other two grip screws that were not loose yet. No problems since then. I have put about 800 rounds through it so far. Awaiting 1000 rds from Georgia Arms so I can continue shooting it.

Great report... I love looking at targets and like you did yours at 50 ft. Nice looking gun.

Here is a more recent photo, also at 50 ft. I have the sights dialed in better. This is 2 mags +1 (17 rds) of the Double Tap 200gr Wide Flat Nose Gas Check hard cast lead loads. I do plan to reload and am collecting my used brass right now. I reload for many calibers including 45ACP, 41 Mag and 44 Mag. I only see one powder I currently use (Unique) listed for 10mm. What do others like to use as far as powder and target bullets?

Thanks for the range report. I've always had hankering for a longslide 1911. Never took the plunge. This gun could change my mind.

I had a Dan Wesson Razorback in 1Omm and swapped it for a Glock 20 due to the weight for packing on long hikes in the woods. I've tried the Double Tap 200 and 230 grains through the Glock. Never ran anything hotter than Hornaday 180 grain XTP through the Dan Wesson, though I'm sure it would have handled it just fine. The recoil is less noticeable with the Glock shooting those same Hornaday rounds. The 200 grain DT's aren't too bad in the tupperware, but the 230 grain DT's in the G20 bucks pretty darned good. :)

Does anyone have experience reloading with Accurate #9 powder?

Warm weather is almost here in Colorado and I am ready to try some long-range outdoor shooting with the Fusion 10mm. Has anyone done open sights at 50 or 100 yards? Just trying to judge the range to start with without damaging target holders.

I have used both AA-7 (10.2gr) and VV-3N37 (6.2gr) W/Hornaday 200FMJ-FP in my Kimber Target & S&W 1006. I like the Vihatavuori load. I intend to try Power Pistol my next run of 10mm.
