I received my "Type B" recoil spring today from Brownell's, and it appears to be roughly 20% longer than the original RIA spring. However, upon installing, it doesn't feel as if it's binding or anything , Just verified the Brownell's listing, and it is a 1911 part... this isn't one intended to be "tuned" to the correct power-level by clipping coils, is it?
Can't test-fire until the weekend, at the earliest. Feels stronger (duh), and more positive.
