If you are looking to buy a nice 1911 Colt is about the best way to go. If HiCap is the way you want to go Springfield makes real nice 1911s. I would stay away from Norinco they are Chinese junk.Buy American we make the best stuff.

Yes like the Ford Edsel and Chrysler mini vans!

American firearms can be quality products just like others world wide in the industry. You would hardly refer to FN/Browning Hi-Powers made in Belgium as inferior products. Para brought us the Hi Cap .45acp, ramped barrel and their new Power Extractor. Springfield who use Made in Brazil parts including complete guns are quality products most of which are assembled in the US.

122456 - We can't or don't get the new enhanced versions of the Norincos in Canada but you likely can. Some of the guys in the Philipines may want to jump in here as they report the enhanced models are really quite nice. Norincos are very accurate out of the box and I have yet to have a FTF in any of my three Norks. With my 60 year old eyes sights were a problem on the versions sold here but sets of Heinie and Novaks cured that in a hurry. My A1 Nork will shoot one holers all day at 15 yards, from a rest if I do my part.

Do you have some evidence to support your position about the Norincos or you just do not like their origin?

Didn't Springfield source their slides and frames from Brazil? Could be that Brazil is American? ;)

The Norincos are good pistols. Their high caps take proprietary magazines. If only they will take sti or para-ord mags, then they'll rock!

Hmmm, ask a Viet Nam vet if those Chinese AK's were junk???

Adios,

Why not? IMHO Norinco 1911A1 is a good 1911. Why? Before I changed a lot of parts in mine the pistol just digested all the ball ammo and JHPs I fed her. No malfunctions whatsoever. I shot about 1,200 rds using the stock chrome lined barrel and magazine. Then I decided to make it a project gun by installing a Wilson high ride beavertail grip saftey. Did it myself. The sights I had my 'smith install 'em. I'm not that skilled. Here's a pic.http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b227/Ric4509/th_Norinco006.jpg (http://)

I've been going back and forth for a month now looking at this used Norinco 5" bbl, blue, stock @ $329+ tax. I already have one and I know Norinco's are great pistols to work on and shoot. If I won't be able to control myself tomorrow she's mine if she's still there.

I think I'm gonna have her tomorrow. Another Norinco to play with. I will keep her as is.

Hi Bob, nice gun. Looks good, and by seeing your group on the paper target ,I can imagine that you are happy with your NORINCO ! I got mine a few weeks, and i have shot some 500 rounds with it , and ges what, no malfunctions and grouping is much better than the COLT and SPRINGFIELD I have owned . the only thing that i might replace are the plastic stocks, but it also gives it a nononse look ! See You. J.W.

J.W. - thanks. Yes I am extremely happy with my Norinco. Did you get the mil-spec model or the fancy one Norinco is now making? I have the NP 29 which looks like the enhanced model. We don't get the enhanced model in .45acp in Canada, yet.

I put Heinie sights on my gun, Dlask hammer, Sear & trigger and a Cylinder & Slide Beavertail. Gun breaks just around 4 lbs now and is very crisp.

I should add I left one Norinco A1 stock and if I take my time it will shoot just about as good as my cleaned up gun.

You will find with a decent trigger job and better sights your gun will out perform or at least be the equal to much more expensive makes. Do you reload as well?

Hi Bob, yes, ive got the new model with deep blueing and polished side of frame and slide . Little toolmarks can be seen, but thay dont worry me. for the rest it is mil-spec. Trigger was abit creapy, but a good grease job on the right parts made it good for me. Yes ,I do reload, and its fun. For the .45ACP i use cbc shells and Haendler and Nattermann bullets (230 round nose ) Powder i use is SP2 from VECTAN-NOBEL (france made). I load it with 8.2 grain. The same load also for my conversion- set for my GRIZZLY . For my WIN-MAG .45 i load 14.1 with the same bullets. I also reload for my other fire-arms ( SPRF-GARAND in 30-06, SIG 551-SWAT in 223 REM, and SMITH and WESSON 460 XVR ) I also got WW11 holster and belt with magazine pouch for my 1911, and it looks great with my GARAND at a military rifle and pistol match! Nice talking to you, going shooting Thursday . Take my NORC with me. See you! J.W.
