On a 4.25 length 1911 should the recoil spring be increased above 16lbs for 230 +p ammo?

18# is stock, so you might want to go to 20# for +P.

The 18 lbs spring is suggested as stock for standard pressure ammo. Usually this is a little on the firm side, but for +P 20 lbs should do it.
