View Full Version : Delta Gold Cup extractor

I picked up a Delta GC 10 mm this week. Supposedly it had not been messed with.
The extractor was flopping around, loose to the touch.
I took out the extractor. On other extractors I see a knuckle in the middle.
On this one I see the knuckle only on the outside at the middle and none on the inside.
I am having a lot of trouble setting tension and having the extractor have some tension in the channel.
Is this the right design for a 10 mm?
Who would supply a conventional stainless 10 mm extractor?

Don't worry about whether or not the extractor is tight in the channel; it's the case rim tension that counts. That said, mine is tight enough that I have to use a tool to push the hook aside to get it pas the breechface for removal; maybe your extractor is a more common .38 Super part that has been pressed into service (pun!)? Does your gun run?

I haven't shot it yet. It wouldn't hand cycle. It failed to hold the round during extraction because of too little tension. I also had to push the hook to get it into the channel and remove the extractor, even though it had little tension on the round.

The hook will be into the chamber a little more than a .45 automatic because the case head on a 10mm is a little smaller.
You could try adding some tension and see how she acts.

Hunter, I did add more bend/tension on the hook.
It hand cycles rounds OK now.
When it stops snowing and gail force winds stop, I will take it to the range.
It just bothers me that the extractor is floppy, really loose. You can see it move by slowly rotating the gun. With 45s I learned there should be some tension in the channel.
Is the extractor correct without that inner knuckle/bulge at the middle?

I googled ".40 10mm extractor", and came up with a pic in Midway's catalog that appears to be a .45 extractor - lumps on both sides - and a pic of Fusion's 9mm/.40/10mm extractor. It has the lump on only the outer side, but I'm not aware that other makers try to stretch one extractor to fit both 9mm and 10mm, so nothing definitive on whether or not your extractor is correct.

After looking at an extra Delta Elite top end I have, the extractor in this one is the same as yours.

RickB & Iron Bottom, thanks for checking.
I am just going to have to jockey around with this extractor to see if I can get a bit of channel tension on it and still get a proper amount of tension on the round.
That is why I like 1911s. There is always something else to do.
