I will be doing a parkerizing job on my Springfield very soon. I will be using the black I think. I have a couple of thoughts and need some ideas/suggestions.

Slide and frame parked black
beavertail/hammer in stainless
install new aluminum trigger
install magwell extension/mainspring housing stainless

My thoughts are for areas which will receive the most contact with sweating hands and abuse. Even possible the extended safety in stainless.

I have black CT lazer grips which will remain.

If anyone has mixed the two metals let me know. Is their a problem wiht metal reactions or possibly stress. :lh:

Hi

The aluminum trigger has been around forever. It certainly is not a problem with any finish I know of.

Stainless will do ok in contact with Park, provided things have been properly neutralized.

The stainless used in gun parts is not rust proof. If durability is the main concern, I would put a finish on everything.

Not the way I would go, but since it is your gun have fun. Just post pictures so we can see the finished product. I have never seen any gun with problems with mixed metals or finishes. However, in the frame and slide, if one was aluminum and the other is steel, then you might have a problem. But not with a trigger. I agree with pa guns, finish everything, if only with a clear coat.
