I've a series 80 that has had some work done before I bought it. It has a set of what I'd call target sights, i.e. adjustable and an ramp front sight. I'd like to change the sights for high-visability fiber optic sights (60+ y.o. eyes, lol) but the front sight is a "double staked" sight.. I know those sights were of a certain manufacture but can't remember.

Does anyone know if those types of sights still being available or do I need to have the hold welded up and a dove-tail cut into the slide?

Would like to have some opinions as to options. Thanks

They are Millett brand and are still available... unfortunately.

Do not drill your slide for these. It's not worth it. Either use a standard stake-on sight, or go to a dovetail one. If you do the double hole thing, there is no going back unless you re-weld the slide. NOT GOOD.

John,
Unfortunately, this particular slide/gun already has these sights. I'm just looking to replace the front sight with something more visible. I've tried sight paint.. won't stay on. It looks like a re-weld.. unless someone else has a suggestion.

I'm a John too.. lol

Can't be of more help buddy, unless you show us some pictures.

That's a bummer, it appears that the dual crimp front sight is only available in black, at least from Brownells. I had a Combat Commander that had a stake in front sight and the dovetail for the Trijicon night sight was cut over it. Wonder if that could be done over the dual crimp holes. Just a thought, Greg

The holes are too far apart for any pistol cross dovetail I have seen to clean up. Maybe one or another of the lengthwise dovetails would wipe them out, but there are not many of those being made. Look at the Clark.

Go direct to Millett, they offer bright orange sights. You would have to find somebody with the dual crimp tool, it is kind of expensive for one job.

Berquist used to sell a fibre optic kit that got you some rods for which you cut a groove down the top of an existing sight blade and held the insert in with a particular cement. I don't know if this is the right Berquist, but you could call...
