Extended Ejecter

What is the benefit of the extended extractor? I'm looking at the one on my SA1911A1 and it is nothing like JMB did it.

In a 5" gun shooting mid-range target (low velocity) ammo, the extended ejector initiates the ejection sequence sooner (when the slide's moving faster) for more vigorous ejection. With a standard USGI ejector, the empty case will just barely dribble out of the ejection port on some target guns shooting powder puff loads - just because the slide doesn't come back as fast as with full-power loads.

Don't shoot full-power loads in my 1911, but I would guess an extended ejector would just cause these ejected cases to go farther. Seems logical to me, at least!
