There has been some discussion in the Taurus forum on
the dead on sight (12 o'clock) sight picture. One person
has reported that a Taurus smith did a barrel adjustment
to fix it so a 6 o'clock hold was now possible. Any one have
any idea what kind of barrel adjustment would do this?
I would think a barrel adjustment would change the lockup
but do not know. Confused as usual.

That was my post Jim, I have no idea how or what they did to adjust the barrel. See the attachment with the target they sent me back from Miami. The only thing I can think of after looking at the barrel is they machined the area at the bottom of the barrel where it rest on the frame. Sorry Jim, but I can't tell you any more other than mine does not shoot 6 inches low any more.
Happy Shooting..............

Thanks for the reply georgia rebell. I was hoping one of the guru's in this forum
would shed some light on how that could be done safely, but I guess no one
knows how.

Something doesn't compute here.

At what distance did you find the gun shot 6 inches low?

The test target from Taurus is a 50ft target. If: the test firing actually took place at a distance of 50 feet; the point of impact was raised 6 inches at 50 feet; the work done to achieve this lowered the back of the barrel; all this means the back of the barrel (at the point where the feet are above the slide stop pin) would have to have been lowered 0.043 inches when the gun is in battery.

This is virtually impossible without the sacrifice of virtually all the radial locking lug engagement between the barrel and slide when in battery.

Perhaps "barrel adjustment" is simply a cover story for whatever Taurus does to make the POI correction. Maybe they consider it a trade secret.

Something doesn't compute here. Regards

Niemi24s, thanks for the input. My gun shot 6 inches low at 10 paces, out of the box, using a center mass POA, 230 gr JHP WWB, off bench with sand bag, 2" group of 5 rounds. I know it doesn't compute for me either, but 'barrel adjustment' is all they had on the repair work sheet, and it shoots center mass now. I really wish I could tell just what was done to it. Test target is a 50ft one, 15 yds is distance listed by the smith at Taurus on the target, and a drawing of a 6 o'clock hold on a bull's eye by the smith.
Happy Shooting...............

Most important is that Taurus got it to shoot where you wanted. How they did it will probably remain a mystery to us.

Stay knee-deep in brass! Cheers
