View Full Version : Sear Spring Slot

A mis-located sear spring slot was given as possible problem source in a few recent threads. The problem was disconnector reset. While the blueprints specify its location, that location is referenced to the MSH pin hole center which, in turn, has its location referenced to the slide stop pin hole center. Wanted to check mine so cranked out some measurable dimensions not on the blueprint:

Mid-spec values were used throughout, and the circles represent the holes - not the pins. Didn't bother including the tolerances in the calculations, but it would seem anything within about 0.007" of these dimensions would be within spec.

Mr. Micrometer - boy, your eyes are a lot better than mine!
Another interesting tidbit but, you got me this time ... how is the sear spring slot reference to be read vis the MSH pin hole? Is it the .520 off the top of the hole? I'm not seeing how to orient the graphic.
Does the angled line with a tilde atop and below indicate that that section belongs over above the MSH pin hole?
Thanks!

The hatched area is the web that forms the aft partition of the magazine well, and the tilted line on its left end is just a little bit of the bottom of the frame, so the 0.520" is from the aft bottom corner of the mag well partition to the bottom of the slot.
The view is of the gun's right side, gun pointed down, so MSH pin hole's on the left & sear pin hole's on the right. Guess I should have added labels showing what was what.
The 0.520" dimension is a pretty iffy measurement with just slide calipers because the OD jaws will just barely catch the edge of the slot and the partition bottom is slanted.
So the little short wiggly lines on the left are called tildes, huh? Never even knew the little things had a name! Cheers

So what happened to the drawing?

It should be OK now - I hope. I added some info to the original drawing this morning and had to break the link for a few minutes to make the replacement in Photobucket.
