I have no idea of the best selling Brown... I will say they are Excellent guns.. any model will be reliable and very accurate. Fit & Finish are fantastic ... listen to yourself and what looks & feels good to you.. the Brown will do its job so it comes down to personal choice. JMO ;)

I own a EB Kobra. It has been the best overall 1911 after 40+ years of owning probably a dozen or more other makes. Not the most expensive pistol, but fit, finish, quality of parts, dependability and even accuracy make it a standout.

Well, you can carry any of EB's guns but the two "Carry" models are the Kobra Carry and the Exectutive Carry. Both Commander size with the Bobtail cut grip. Both guns are very popular and it just depends on what you like better, snake skin or checkering. It's the only difference between the two. I have a Kobra Carry and am very happy with it.

Thanks for the input. It is hard to make up my mind on a gun I can't even feel before I buy it. My first gun bought that way was a Baer and I haven't looked back since as I can't find one I do not like. Own 4 now. I am sure Brown's are the same way. I'm leaning towards the Commander style so it will be between the Executive and Kobra....my first non 5 Inch barrel in 1911..

I really enjoy my Kobra Carry, but not everyone likes the snakeskin pattern on the front strap and MSH. If you can't get one to handle, the Executive is the safe bet. Try to decide wether you want a bobtailed frame/MSH and that will narrow it down a bit more. There again though, not everyone likes the feel of a bobtail either. I personally like it and for concealment it is a no-brainer to me. Here's my concealed carry rig...

I really think you need to do whatever you can to hold a bobtailed pistol (if you haven't done so already). With the advent of the bobtailed Dan Wessons around, you might be able to handle one of them if not the Brown.
My Kobra Carry is the finest gun I have ever owned (handgun or long gun). It was worth every penny and I have never, ever regretted it for a second. For me, the snakeskin pattern is great, but I agree that some folks just cannot seem to get used to it. Again, do what you can to hold one. You are spending way too much $$ to suddenly decide that you do not like the bobtail and/or the snakeskin pattern.
Good luck with your decision - just stick with Ed Brown and you won't ever regret it - they are that good.

Thanks for all of the good feedback. This is a REAL help to me. What a great forum! I was beginning to panic and look at another Baer...

Horror of horrors! I say this in jest, I just purchased my first Baer and it is amazing, much like my Brown. Another member here has a bobtailed Baer you might like to see. Do a search for the Doc Holiday Special; that is a zinger of a concealed carry piece.
You will be very pleased if you get a Brown. If you get out west I'd be happy to let you shoot mine. A local dealer just received an all stainless Kobra Carry and a 2 tone for under MSRP!
Good luck~

Spottsback,
I hate to throw a wrench - but you can also get the Special Forces in a bobtailed commander.
I held one for the first time about 4 weeks ago and orded one on the spot with a naked slide.
It's by far the best feeling firearm I've held.

The Ed Brown Kobra Carry is a excellent carry piece. I bought a Bi Tone (you can see pics in EB thread ) . I own many 1911's so I really liked the variety that this pistol offered to the platform. Fit and finish is second to none. I also have two Baers , they are also great pistols but more traditional in look. I will be buying more of both brands. If there was one 1911 that I was most pleasantly surprised with it was the EB. The trigger is also excellent. Hope this helps.
