I am new here but I just bought a Colt 1911 made in 1918 as per S/N that is in about 75% condition and tight and shoots good. Needs a little trigger work as it is too heavy as is. Paid 400.00 for it ,What's it worth? Info said 334,000 made that year. Is not parkerized as for as I can tell. Orginal wood grips and extra Colt mag included. All info appreciated.

My blue book has 2 variations on your 1911, if its as you say it is.
considering you got it for 400, unless, you can take it to a colt collector that knows his 1911s then i would consider it a shooter.
btw, the value range for a 1911 in the age range with 70% condition is from 800~1500. but again, it depends on your pistol.

Military pistols had heavy triggers. They weren't made for match accuracy, they were made for combat conditions. A 1911 made in 1918 is a collector's item, and I would advise you NOT to even consider a trigger job, because any modifications may reduce the value of the pistol.
BTW -- since this pistol is a bona fide collector's piece, would you like me to move this thread to the military section of the Collector's Corner?
