Does this look like an original, gun correct Colt box/label or is something fishy going on here?

The label is supposed to be for a Blued 1975 Colt Combat Commander.

I have a box/label for a 1977 Nu plated Combat Commander (see below) and in the Model Number block, the first four digits "0461" and the Serial Number block the first 2 digits "70" are part of the original label printing. The remaining digit/s for the Model Number "3" and the Serial Number "SC548XX" are hand printed.

Is it just me being paranoid or is this a case of someone passing off the box for something it isn't?

Any feedback from from others with original and correct boxes from this time period would be appreciated.

I have the original box for my 1978 made nickel finish government model. Everything is hand printed except the barrel lenght on the label. However, it appears your serial number has been scratched out and changed. Also I have an N hand written in the space for finish on the label. Anyway that is a nice looking Commander. Enjoy it.

I can't help you out with your question but I'm assuming you got that label photo from Gunbroker.com - it looks like a beautiful Colt.

I was just browsing tonight and came across this one as well:

Wish I had the money right now.

For me, I would not accept that box as original to whatever Colt it is being sold with.

I don't know about the box (although it looks a bit dodgy to me), but that is one beautiful Commander!
