Just bought a Series 80 Combat Commander. I was not looking to buy, but it came to me. Without any manual, but with two Colt magazines. Guy says it had about 5K rounds through it. It has some FTE issues with non-Colt magazines. I figured to start with changing recoil spring. Two questions. What spring should I get [and where], and where can I get a manual for this pistol? Thanks for any help. I am new at this.

F/V Icy Swan,

First let me say welcome to the forum. I too have a Colt Combat Commander and the "manual" is tucked away in the box and has not been opened. Mostly legal mumbo jumbo, you will get MORE information on your Colt on this forum than could be printed in the manufacturers manual. If you really want one to take up storage you can call Colt and get one I would imagine. As far as the springs, go to www.brownells.com and look under springs, Wolff is the brand I use in all my 1911s. Call the 800 number and they will advise you on the correct size spring, or look under the gunsmith section of this forum and read everything there and learn what size you need. If it is a post by 1911Tuner, memorize it like scripture, it is as good as GOLD!

Now....... :wl:

PS, my Colt magazines are in the box with the manual.
