For folks looking for a Mil-Spec 1911 and preferring Colt (don't we all? :D); I came across an outfit (Hoplite, Inc., Tel# 502-955-5014) in the Shotgun News selling NIB 1991A1's w/ a factory Videcki trigger (not my cup of tea, but then I love Colt's nylon trigger!) for $499.
I've never ordered anything more than ammo from them, but didn't have any problem.

Are these the NRM's? Or the GI models?

Far as I can tell they're all matte. The picture is pretty small, B&W, etc. & I can't see the rollmark, but it does look like the pistol is late enough to have the 3-Dot sights.

I saw those pistols advertised, and while i did not call them to ask, i am 99% sure that they are orm "M1991A1" PISTOLS. :)

Doesn't really matter what they are. If they are new, Colt's and available for $499 it's a good deal if you need one.
Listen to you.........."If I need one" IF I NEED ONE?????
No, I NEED more than one......... :D

Jump on me if I'm wrong....but that ad is years old. Its an ORM ad, they are gone like the wind a long time ago. Heck...I called on that almost a year ago and they didnt even know the ad was still in Shotgun News still.....also that was a FFL price.

I saw the ad in my April 20th issue of SGN. Dunno, I'll give them a ring tomorrow & post any availability info.

I called Hoplite today & they said "We're sold out"...
Please delete the thread accordingly. Sorry folks, I'll be sure to give whomever a call for future reference before posting a "good deal". I got a little over-excited at the prospect of a genuinely reasonable price! :D

No problem here..........for that price I didn't think they would last long.

No problem here..........for that price I didn't think they would last long.....like I said...that was dealer pricing at least 1 year old.

Why the emphasis on "dealer" pricing? Unless you purchase a pistol locally, or hold an FFL, your either going to be paying an FFL transfer fee, or paying the same amount to have the FFL holder "sell" you the pistol. All of the FFL folks I've dealt with charge the same to do it either way.

mitchjoe.........With my memory, I cannot be 100% on the old recollection...but I seem to recall calling them last year and being told the 499 price was for those with an FFL. The last I knew dealers up their price 10 to 40 % or so before we non FFL holders see them in the store. However, no problem....I very well could be way out of line on my thinking...

If you are lucky, you can find one for that price. I picked my 1991A1 up back 7 years ago for $450 out the door, tax & all. Oddly enough it was NIB in the Colt Blue case, with the stop tag run through the trigger guard. Not a round through it, or a scratch on the mag. Of course I also found it at a local pawn shop too.
