Halito, all. I finally bought me a Colt auto. Granted, it is the 1991 series compact, but it was NIB and I traded a few pieces I had laying around. After tallying up what I had in the others I figure I have about 450-480 in the Colt. My book shows the Colt as listing much higher than that with the original box, papers, mags and being NIB. It was like opening a time capsule. The friend had bought the Colt back in the early '90s and just took it home and never used it. I only would that it were blued instead of that matte finish, but it is a Colt. I went ahead with the deal after reading about Hunter and others who had good things to say about the "cheap" pony. Too bad I don't have a digital camera so I could post the pics of her. The book has never even been out of the box, and neither mag has ever had a round placed in them (well...they have now, since I rescued her). She will no longer be a safe queen, as I think it will be an excellent Summer carry piece. I love the FS, but it is sometimes a bit of a hassle in the warmer weather to conceal. Now I just have to get used to this weird take-down process with that strange plunger assembly.
Love the 1911 (Colts and all) Indiana (no Super Bowl this time guys) and this forum.

Congrats on the your new Colt Compact. It won't be your last Colt. I have a 1991 5" Colt and love it. It has never given me any problems and is pretty darn accurate too.

Excellent! Those Compact are great little pistols. Mine has been flawless since I bought it a few years back.
I look forward to the pictures.

Halito, all. Thanks. Now I just have to begin the fun of finding out what the little girl likes to eat. You all know how children are...some of them will eat anything and some are picky picky. Rocky the RIA will digest anything placed in the mag. Hope the little Colt is just as hungry. Coltitis huh? Hmmmm, maybe I could trade that old S&W 1066 for a good Colt FS or Commander....Love the 1911, Antarctica (I'm melting, I'm melting...) and this forum.

Way to go chimkayu! I brought mine new in 1987 and carried it up til 4 years ago when I purchased my Defender. Now it's semi-retired, I still take it out every now and then. Shot a ton of ammo thru it! Digested semiwad cutters, hollow points, FMJ. Replaced the springs twice (regular maintnance). It always done good for me.
